Ontario reports a record 4,736 COVID-19 cases, 29 deaths

Ontario reported 4,736 cases of COVID-19 and 29 deaths on Thursday, a new daily case record that comes one week into the stay-at-home order.

This beats the previous record of 4,456 set on Apr. 11.

The daily case count comes as the province completed 65,559 tests. The reported positivity rate is 8 per cent.

More patients have been admitted to hospital with COVID-19. There are now 1,932 people hospitalized across the province, up from the 1,877 reported on Wednesday.

There are 659 people in intensive care, with the number of patients on a ventilator steady at 442.

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 1,915 total cases  — up 35 from Wednesday
  • 1,660 resolved cases
  • 210 active cases
  • 40 deaths

Brant

  • 2,253 total cases — up 61 from Wednesday
  • 1,963 resolved cases
  • 276 active cases
  • 14 deaths
  • 12 in hospital

Six Nations

  • 453 total cases  — up six from Wednesday
  • 433 resolved cases
  • 10 active cases
  • 0 in hospital
  • 10 deaths

The province administered 105,430 vaccine doses on Wednesday. There are 339,491 people in Ontario who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Another 3,174 cases have been marked as resolved.
