Man arrested after fatal shooting in St. Catharines

Police are investigating after a 32-year-old man was shot and killed in St. Catharines Monday night.

Niagara officers were called to the area of Glendale Ave. and Marsdale Dr. around 8:30 p.m.

Yan Jing from St. Catharines was pronounced dead in hospital.

A man was taken into custody but police say the investigation is still in its preliminary stages and charges have not yet been laid.

Police are looking for anyone who may have surveillance video or dashcam from the area between the hours of 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Detectives say there’s no reason to believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety.
