Ontario pilot project vaccinates temporary foreign workers at Pearson Airport

A pilot project offering COVID-19 vaccines to migrant workers arriving at Pearson Airport will continue this week.

Shots of the Moderna vaccine were given to more than 200 workers arriving from Mexico on Saturday, after they took a mandatory COVID-19 test.

Phase two of Ontario’s vaccine implementation plan includes agricultural workers.

Shots will be available to any temporary foreign worker who wants a shot before they leave the airport for their quarantine location.

The government says it plans to follow up with farms to administer the second dose through the local public health unit.

The program is expected to become permanent.
