Fireplace blamed in house blaze

An overnight blaze caused a lot of damage to a home in rural Hamilton.

Just after 12:30 this morning there was a chimney fire at a home on Concession 5 East and Robson Road in Flamborough.

The fire started in the fireplace and spread to the ceiling and roof. A smoke detector went off, so the people inside got out safely. The fire caused about $25,000 in damage.
