Ft. Erie race track gets more time

Fort Erie race track officials are still working to save the town’s race track.

The track was slated to close at the end of the year.

But, after finding out they would still be receiving provincial funding, it will now stay open until March 31st.

During the next three months, track officials, who issued layoff notices to most of its employees in August, will try to get support from the province’s horse racing industry transition panel to include the track in its future plans.

Track officials also continue to speak with potential investors who have an interest in the 115 year old property.
