Inquest to be held into young man’s death

An inquest will be held into the death of 18-year-old Andreas Chinnery who was killed in an altercation with Hamilton police in 2011.

Police had responded to a noise complaint at a Barton Street apartment and Chinnery allegedly came at the officers with a bat and was shot.

The officer involved in the incident was cleared of any wrongdoing 3 months after Chinnery was killed.

The inquest will look into the events surrounding his death and recommendations may be made to prevent similar deaths.

The inquest will start December 3rd in Hamilton.
