Police ask residents to look for knife

Police say the family of a woman who was stabbed multiple times in Toronto’s Cabbagetown area earlier this week have been notified of her death.

Toronto police have announced that they contacted the woman’s mother, brothers and children in Uganda.

55 year old Nighisti Semret, a refugee from North Africa, was attacked while walking home from work Tuesday morning.

She worked as a cleaner at a downtown hotel.

Police don’t believe she knew her attacker.

Police say several witnesses have come forward and they are now asking residents that live in the Cabbagetown area to check their properties for a discarded knife.
