Review finds C. diff factor in patient death

An internal review finds the C. difficile outbreak at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Charlton campus, in Hamilton did contribute to the death of an 85-year-old patient.

However, a spokesperson for the hospital says there were also other significant factors.

Meanwhile, the two hospitals experiencing outbreaks — St. Joe’s and Hamilton General — say they’re taking every precaution to ensure the public is safe.

The hospitals say they are using a special cleaning agent designed to kill the virus.
