Bantleman incarceration extended

Neil Bantleman is being held without charges while police investigate the claims involving three kindergarten students. Neil’s brother, Guy Bantleman, is heading to Ottawa tomorrow — to meet with the Department of Foreign Affairs. Guy has been told the chief of police has instructed his investigative team to complete their review of the case and to send the evidence to the prosecuting office. The prosecutors will then have 14 days to determine if there’s a case to move to trial. Guy Bantleman says he recognizes the diplomatic efforts made by the Canadian government, but says it seems like more could be done: “Consular services in Jakarta have been helpful and has assured that my brother has received their services. But ultimately, we haven’t seen very much from the Canadian government.”

Neil has been in prison for over two weeks. The 45-year-old has taught at the Jakarta International School for four years, along with his wife Tracy.
