Surprise Emmy party

A Hamilton-based director is heading to the Daytime Emmy awards. So tonight, his family and friends threw a mock red carpet bash to celebrate.

Cory Bobiak is the director of the animated children’s show “Peg plus Cat”. As he arrived home from work this evening — dozens of family and friends greeted him standing behind velvet ropes — cheering him on as he walked the red carpet. Bobiak was completely surprised — and he’s pretty excited about heading to Hollywood: “Well I first heard I was nominated about a month ago. So I was excited. But we didn’t think we were going until the last couple of weeks ago. So it’s been two stages of excitment.”

The show helps children learn math skills and features Peg and her sidekick Cat. It’s nominated for outstanding childrens program. Bobiak is up against some stiff compeition including Curious George and Wonder Pets. The awards are handed out Friday.
