(Updated) People are blocking access to work being done on a section of Enbridge’s Line 9 pipeline in Etobicoke.

Protestors set up a blockade this morning near Rexdale and Kipling. Enbridge says workers were not in contact with any protesters and have been re-directed to another project site.

Repairs are being done on the pipeline, but demonstrators say they’re a band-aid solution, and are worried it will eventually rupture.

There are also concerns about the pipeline running through the densely populated area. Enbridge says they have conducted detailed inspections of the line and that the maintenance they conduct is leading-edge industry practice.
