Welland man arrested after indecent act at Merritt Island

Niagara police have arrested a man after an indecent act in Welland.

Police say officers responded to Merritt Island Aug. 4 at 9:24 a.m. after receiving reports of a man sitting at a picnic table masturbating.

Witnesses told officers the man was visible to people walking on the canal path and children playing at a nearly jungle gym.

52-year-old Brian Laramee from Welland is charged with committing and indecent act in a public place.

Laramee has been held for a bail hearing which is scheduled to take place today.
