Wanted man arrested after hospital visit in Hamilton

Police say a wanted man has been arrested in Hamilton after he checked himself into a hospital on Saturday.

Staff members at the St. Joseph’s West 5th hospital recognized the suspect and called police.

Michael Stamatakos, 31, was wanted by the Ontario Provincial Police on a Canada Wide Warrant for breaching his release conditions.

Investigators say Stamatakos is currently serving a two year sentence for a slew of charges including arson-damage to property, flight from peace officer, utter threat to cause death/harm and more.

Stamatakos has been taken to the Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre.
