Two people have been killed in a multi-vehicle crash on a major highway near Toronto.
Emergency crews were called to a collision around 9:30 p.m. Sunday on the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Dixie Rd. in Mississauga.
The fiery collision involved three vehicles including a tractor-trailer.
Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said initial reports indicate a Corvette lost control after passing the semi-trailer and then collided with the truck. The collision forced the truck into the express lanes where it struck a silver Mazda, rolled and burst into flames.
Schmidt said one person was pronounced dead at the scene while another died after being transported to hospital. Three others were also taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.
