Donald Trump is congratulating John Cornyn for having a “great career,” while also congratulating the man who beat Cornyn in a primary with his endorsement. Cornyn spent more than a year trying to show Trump and Texas Republicans that he and the president were on the same team. But on Tuesday, he became the latest Republican to lose a primary after falling out of favor with the president. Trump says he will remain friends with Cornyn as they watch Ken Paxton become a “fantastic” senator.
