VIDEO: The Ontario government has passed it’s budget following a rare late-night sitting Wednesday and fiery debate Thursday, but not without controversy. Throughout question period Thursday morning, Queens Park erupted in pandemonium as opposition leaders shouted down the count, furious over new deficits and changes to the Freedom of Information Act Premier Doug Ford has ushered in. Many in the chamber who oppose the government are questioning why a budget bill includes changes to the province’s freedom of information laws. They point to past controversies uncovered through FOI requests, including the misallocation of the skills development fund and the Greenbelt scandal.
