Iran has rejected the latest ceasefire proposal and wants a permanent end to the war, according to a state-run news agency.

The response comes as U.S. President Donald Trump’s deadline looms — Tuesday night Washington time — for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with the president threatening to hit Iran’s power plants and other infrastructure targets.

Monday, Trump described the consequences that Iran would face if it didn’t reach a deal with the U.S. by his 8 p.m. deadline.
