VIDEO: The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission is stepping up their demands, asking broadcasters and streaming platforms in the country to cough up 15 to 25 per cent of their revenue towards Canadian content. The change means streaming platforms that make over $25 million dollars annually have to cough up 15 per cent of their revenue to supporting Canadian content. That’s triple the five percent that was asked of them in 2024. Canadian broadcasters will also have to contribute, for them it’s a reduction to 25 per cent of their annual revenue, from the previous range of 30 to 45.
