VIDEO: Police agencies across Ontario are mourning the loss of a 43-year-old Toronto Police Constable who was shot in the line of duty Thursday morning. Marc Pinizzotto was carrying out a search warrant in Toronto’s northwest end with the emergency task force when an exchange of gunfire broke out, leading to his death and sending one suspect to the hospital. Authorities say they’re now searching for another suspect tied to this case. Pinizzotto served with the Toronto Police Service for 18 years. The investigation leading up to Thursday’s fatal shooting was linked to several incidents involving firearms around the Greater Toronto Area, including one that took place at the U.S. consulate back in March. Through tears, Toronto’s Police Chief told a news conference the policing community is remembering Pinizzotto as “a hero in life, not death.”
