The fires have destroyed more than 10,000 homes and other structures since Jan. 7 when they first began appearing across a densely populated 25 mile (40 km) expanse north of downtown Los Angeles.

No cause has been identified yet for the largest fires.

The mayor of Los Angeles stated that firefighters have had to extinguish fires in Hollywood, Studio City, and other areas.
