The Canadian military is falling short in a number of areas, including recruiting and training enough members to meet its operational requirements.

That’s according to a report tabled in the House of Commons Tuesday morning.

Findings from Auditor General Karen Hogan show while thousands apply annually, only about 1 in 13 applicants actually begins basic training.

AG Hogan released 6 reports in total, updating the House of Commons on issues from military recruitment and training, to Canada Revenue Agency call centres issuing inaccurate information, and federal cybersecurity concerns.
