Albertans set to cast fall vote on separation referendum from Canada

VIDEO: It’s official, Albertans will be able to cast a ballot this fall on whether the province should use the courts needed to hold a separation referendum from Canada. Premier Danielle Smith made the announcement Thursday, saying that this will gives Albertans a chance to have their say and decide whether it’s a path they want to go down. The latest comes after a judge tossed a citizen-led petition on a seperation vote, citing that it violated treaty rights and consultation laws with First Nations communities.
