Toronto police identify woman set on fire on TTC bus

Toronto police have released the identity of a woman who died in hospital after she was set on fire on a city bus last month.

Nyima Dolma, 28, of Toronto, died in hospital on July 5.

On June 17, police found her suffering from life threatening injuries at Kipling Subway Station. The fire was put out by the time police arrived and she was rushed to hospital.

A man, 33-year-old Tenzin Norbu of Toronto, was arrested close by and charged with multiple offences. The charges were upgraded to first degree murder after Dolma died.

Norbu is also facing charges of common nuisance endangering lives and safety of the public, mischief over $5,000 interfering with property and assault with a weapon.

Police say further investigation revealed that there was no relationship between Dolma and Norbu.

Norbu appeared in court via a video link on Monday.
