HAPPENING NOW:

St. Catharines mayor Mat Siscoe was here this morning to discuss issues plaguing the city right now.
One big issue is homelessness and vandalism and public drug use in the downtown core, as seasonal shelters shutdown on April 15th.
“We need the housing in place. We need a plan from the regional staff, because the city has tried things, but this is not our area. We need people on the ground. I need short term solutions.” said Siscoe.
Another topic discussed was the sanctions announced against the Niagara IceDogs because of breaches of the league’s maltreatment, bullying and harassment protection and prevention policy.
And on a happier note, St. Catharines turned 147 years old on May 1st, and they are preparing for their 150th, where they want a huge party for everyone to celebrate.
