A St. Catharines man who murdered his estranged wife in a savage attack early last year was sentenced to life in prison today, with no chance of parole for 18 years.

George Fraser was stalking Judy Fraser, in January of 2014, when he stabbed her 18 times in the parking lot of her St. Catharines apartment building.

On January 16th, 2014, Judy was getting out her car in her apartment parking lot at 128 St. Augustine Drive. She had shopping bags in her hand. George Fraser walked up and stabbed her 18 times with a seven inch fishing knife he had just purchased. He stalked her in a car he’d borrowed from a friend, and left her to die with the knife still in her chest.

George and Judy had been married 47 years. He was angry that she left him, and was bent on revenge when he was told he could not go the family cottage. After he killed Judy, George went to his daughter Kim’s house and blamed her for what he just did.
“His first words when he walked through the door was ‘you made me do this, this is all your fault, you conspired with your mother to do this to me.” Kim had no idea what he was talking about. “And then a few minutes later I see my husband escorting George from my home, and my husband looked at me and said ‘call 911–i think your dad just killed your mom.”

Judy’s daughters were devastated. “She was an absolutely amazing woman and any life she touched she would make a huge difference in that life.”

When Judy left George she went to live with family members out of town, but weeks later felt it was safe enough to come back to St. Catharines. She moved into the building on St. Augustine Drive, careful to not let George know
where she lived, but he found her new address on the separation documents.

Kim and her sisterTracy say their father was controlling, mentally and verbally abusive. She was always in fear for her life, and it got to the point she wanted to live her life, she didn’t want to be looking over her
shoulder all the time.”
