Renaming Ryerson Elementary School

Hamilton’s school board is meeting tonight to discuss renaming Ryerson Elementary School as some trustees are looking to drop Egerton Ryerson’s name due to his connection with Canada’s residential school system.

This discussion comes just a day after protesters toppled a statue of Ryerson University’s namesake on its campus.
