Radon Action Month with Canada Radon

First Published:

November is Radon Action Month. Louie Butko joined Canada Radon this morning on the site of a home where high radon levels had been discovered. Canada Radon works to bring radon levels within the home back to acceptable levels.

Radon is a naturally occurring gas that is present in most homes. According to Health Canada, it is the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers. Radon is tasteless, colourless, and odourless, so it requires special equipment to detect and control.

At least 18% of homes in Hamilton may have radon levels above the acceptable guideline. If you would like to test for high radon levels in your home, you can buy a do-it-yourself kit from Canada Radon’s website.
