Police locate, arrest suspect for sexual assault in Port Colborne

Niagara police have arrested a man following a sexual assault investigation in Port Colborne.

Officers responded to a report of an alleged sexual assault on Wednesday shortly after 2 p.m. on West St. near Clarence St.

Investigators say a woman was walking in the area when she noticed a black vehicle driving along West. St in a suspicious manner.

Police say a man approached her shortly after from behind and sexually assaulted her.

The victim sustained minor physical injuries that did not require hospitalization.

Following the assault, the suspect ran towards his vehicle parked near the intersection of West and Kent streets. The victim alerted people nearby who helped by taking a picture of the suspects’ vehicle before he fled the area.

Lachlan Glass, 21, of Port Colborne is charged with sexual assault.

Investigators say Glass remains in custody and is set to attend a virtual bail hearing at a St. Catharines courthouse on Thursday.
