Steve Ruddick
Weather Specialist
Steve is celebrating his 44th year in television broadcasting. He graduated from Canadore College as the television program’s first “on-air” student. He began his career at what was then, CKVR TV in Barrie, his home town. As a sports anchor and reporter he worked with weather specialist Connie Smith, briefly, before she left for CHCH TV in Hamilton.
He was picked up by CBC Television and anchored in Regina, Saskatchewan for eight years. There, he provided local sports coverage on daily news programs and contributed stories to Hockey Night in Canada and The CFL on CBC.
He returned to Ontario with his wife Kym and his two young children to be closer to family in 1992, and was quickly hired at CHCH in the sports department. Never one to stay in one place for long, he eventually moved into the weather department for a change of pace.
Steve has always juggled several things at one time and for several years has been a mortgage agent in commercial and residential properties and plays drums in several bands, mostly for relaxation.
