The Parliamentary Black Caucus is calling for action to reduce systemic racism in Canada.

The group was created in 2015 and includes MPs and senators from various political parties, including Hamilton Centre MP Matthew Green.

It put forward a series of recommendations Tuesday on how all levels of government can work to stamp out racism.

They include improving the collection of race-based data and reforming the police and justice system to eliminate bias.

The group is also calling for more Black representation in the public service and greater investments in Black culture and arts.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he welcomes these calls to action but did not commit to implementing any of the measures.

Trudeau did say many of them are things his government is already working on, like targeting economic support to Black-owned businesses and young Black entrepreneurs.
