Ontario reports 2,961 COVID-19 cases, 74 deaths as nearly 145K vaccine doses given

Ontario reported 2,961 cases of COVID-19 and 74 deaths on Wednesday.

This comes as the province completed 50,931 tests.

Another 11,231 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered on Tuesday by 8 p.m., bringing the total number of doses given in the province to 144,784.

Niagara

  • 5,979 total cases — up 187 from Tuesday
  • 4,283 resolved cases
  • 1,491 active cases
  • 205 deaths — up 9 from Tuesday

Halton

  • 7,219 total cases — up 92 from Tuesday
  • 6,459 resolved cases
  • 624 active cases
  • 136 deaths — up one from Tuesday
  • 37 in hospital

Brant

  • 1,183 total cases — up 26 from Tuesday
  • 1,027 resolved cases
  • 150 active cases
  • 6 deaths
  • 2 in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 1,138 total cases — up 15 from Tuesday
  • 912 resolved cases
  • 185 active cases
  • 36 deaths

 

A total of 5,127 people have died of COVID-19 in Ontario, with just under 60 per cent of those deaths reported in residents of long-term care.

There are 1,674 patients hospitalized with the virus across the province. There are 385 people in ICU with 276 of them on ventilators.

Another 3,392 cases have been marked as resolved.
