Ontario reports 2,759 COVID-19 cases, 31 deaths

Ontario reported 2,759 cases of COVID-19 and 31 deaths on Thursday, as vaccine booking opened up to residents 40 and older.

The reported positivity rate is 5.7 per cent, while the province completed 47,638 tests in the last day.

Hamilton

  • 18,956 total cases — up 124 from Wednesday
  • 17,218 resolved cases
  • 1,002 active cases
  • 129 in hospital
  • 373 deaths  — up one from Wednesday

Halton

  • 16,556 total cases — up 93 from Wednesday
  • 15,617 resolved cases
  • 719 active cases
  • 69 in hospital
  • 220 deaths  — up two from Wednesday

Niagara

  • 15,006 total cases — up 91 from Wednesday
  • 13,077 resolved cases
  • 1,530 active cases
  • 61 in hospital
  • 399 deaths  — up one from Wednesday

Brant

  • 2,985 total cases — up 21 from Wednesday
  • 2,803 resolved cases
  • 162 active cases
  • 20 deaths
  • 9 in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 2,506 total cases — up 17 from Wednesday
  • 2,254 resolved cases
  • 206 active cases
  • 41 deaths

There are 1,632 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 across the province. There are 776 in ICU with 568 of them on ventilators.

The province administered 137,697  vaccine doses on Wednesday. There are 407,600 people in the province who have received both required vaccine doses.

Another 3,455 cases have been marked as resolved.
