Ontario reports 270 COVID-19 cases, three deaths

Ontario reported 270 cases of COVID-19 and three deaths on Monday, as the government begins opening up eligibility for second vaccine doses.

The reported positivity rate is 2.5 per cent, with the province completing 13,828 tests within the last day.

Here are the COVID-19 numbers for our region

Hamilton

  • 21,150 total cases — up seven from Sunday
  • 20,142 resolved cases
  • 146 active cases
  • 39 in hospital
  • 399 deaths  — up one from Sunday

Halton

  • 17,925 total cases — up 32 from Friday (Halton is no longer updating its numbers on the weekends)
  • 17,622 resolved cases
  • 74 active cases
  • 8 in hospital
  • 229 deaths

Niagara

  • 16,138 total cases — up nine from Sunday
  • 15,488 resolved cases
  • 239 active cases
  • 411 deaths
  • 27 in hospital

Brant

  • 3,389 total cases  — up two from Sunday
  • 3,349  resolved cases
  • 20 active cases
  • 20 deaths
  • 5 in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 2,696 total cases
  • 2,607 resolved cases
  • 36 active cases
  • 47 deaths

Another 118,625 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday. Nearly 3 million Ontarians have now received both required vaccine doses.

There are 261 people in hospital with COVID-19 across the province. There are 323 patients in intensive care units because of COVID-19 related illness with 202 of them on ventilators.

The death toll is now 9,022 people.

Another 486 cases have been marked as resolved.
