Ontario reports 1,670 COVID-19 cases, 49 deaths

Ontario reported 1,670 cases of COVID-19 and 49 deaths on Wednesday.

This is the lowest daily cases number the province has seen since November and comes as 55,191 tests were completed.

The reported positivity rate, which takes into account the date tests were performed, is four per cent.

Another 2,725 cases have been marked as resolved.

A total of 305,330 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered. Of those, 9,513 were administered on Tuesday by 8 p.m.

A total of 96,459 vaccination have been completed.

  • 8,182 total cases — up 74 from Tuesday
  • 7,563 resolved cases
  • 464 active cases
  • 155 deaths — up one from Tuesday
  • 41 in hospital

Hamilton

  • 8,902 total cases — up 70 from Tuesday
  • 7,846 resolved cases
  • 670 active cases
  • 243 deaths — up three from Tuesday

Niagara

  • 7,547 total cases — up 102 from Tuesday
  • 5,859 resolved cases
  • 1,399 active cases
  • 289 deaths — up five from Tuesday
  • 3,731 vaccinations administered

Brant

  • 1,327 total cases — up ten from Tuesday
  • 1,268 resolved cases
  • 52 active cases
  • 7 deaths
  • 2,552 vaccinations administered
  • Six in hospital

Haldimand Norfolk

  • 1,296 total cases — up two from Tuesday
  • 1,170 resolved cases
  • 83 active cases
  • 38 deaths

Six Nations

  • 147 total cases — up three from Tuesday
  • 132 resolved cases
  • 14 active cases
  • 1 death

There are 1,382 patients hospitalized in Ontario. There are 377 people in ICU with 291 of them on ventilators.

The death toll is now 5,958 people, with 58.5 per cent of those deaths reported in residents of long-term care.
