Motorcyclist in his 50s dead after 2-vehicle crash in Thorold

Niagara police say a man in his 50s is dead following a two-vehicle collision in Thorold Wednesday evening.

Officers say the Pelham man was driving a motorcycle shortly before 8 p.m. when he collided with a white Hyundai Elantra on Highway 20 at the Highway 406 overpass.

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.

A St. Catharines man in his 60s who was driving the Hyundai was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers say the motorcycle and Hyundai involved in this collision are demolished.

The Collision Reconstruction and Forensic Service units are investigating.

Highway 20 at the Highway 406 overpass was closed but it has since reopened.

The identity of the deceased is not being released and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
