In the past, tonsils were removed in children after repeated bouts of infections.

Now though, a panel of experts says a tonsillectomy should be reserved for severe cases only. Not only do they say it may be unnecessary, they say it could be harmful. Dr Brenda Steinnagel joins us to lend her expertise.
