St. Catharines mayor Mat Siscoe sat down with Louie Butko to discuss what is happening in St. Catharines.

It’s been one year since the ‘Strong Mayor’ powers were granted, which Mayor Siscoe says has been a benefit to his council in St. Catharines, even though he hasn’t had to use them, but there are clear lines of accountability.

The city is looking for feedback on proposed amendments to Community Improvement Plans. A special City Council meeting will take place Monday, August 26th, at 6 pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 50 Church St. to discuss ‘extensions to allow for project completion deadlines to be extended for projects that have substantially progressed under the Tax Increment Finance and Brownfield Tax Increment Finance programs in the 2015 and 2020 plans’.

The 2024 World Rowing championships are coming to St. Catharines August 18th-25th at the Royal Canadian Henley Rowing Course. Volunteers have been busy getting the event together and the mayor hopes everyone coming takes in what the city has to offer.

And the Niagara River Lions have advanced to the CEBL Playoffs where they will play against the Montreal Alliance, after they won 94-91 against the Ottawa Blackjacks.
