HAPPENING NOW:

St. Catharines mayor Mat Siscoe sat down with Rick Zamperin to talk about what’s happening around the city.
The city has opened it’s third intake for Neighbourhood Micro Grants. Residents can apply for funding to support neighbourhood programs that are free for residents and allows them to connect and enhance the vibrancy of St. Catharines’ communities.
Sanitary sewer smoke testing continues this week, so don’t be alarmed if you see smoke coming out of the sewer drains. The testing is done to identify “connection points for roof downspouts, catch basins, and other water inlets to the sanitary sewer or storm sewer.”
St. Catharines also has a new fire station. Fire Station 2 was built to Zero Carbon Building Standard and is a very exciting space for St. Catharines, and the residents. So much so that Mayor Siscoe said they will have to hold another open house as more people want to tour through the station.
And speaking of fire stations, firefighters will be back for the very popular Hot Summer Nights event, where residents can cool off at a different city park every Wednesday night from 6pm-8 pm when the firetrucks transform into giant sprinklers.
