Despite big losses in customers, third quarter earnings at Netflix were up 65 per cent.

It’s losing customers in the United States after announcing a price increase in July.

But the company’s Canadian operations are doing well, with a million subscribers to the online service less than a year after it was launched.

CEO Reed Hastings says Netflix will double its quarterly content spending, and add more titles – like “True Grit” and “Black Swan,” along with more TV shows.

It expects to post losses next year when it starts selling its streaming service in Britain and Ireland.
