HAPPENING NOW:

Marvin on Blackberry sales

Blackberry shares are down about 24% to $11.41 on the TSX, after a first quarter net loss of 84-million dollars.

Industry analysts had been expecting Blackberry to post its second quarter of profits since the company was forced to restructure. Revenues were 3.07-billion dollars — again, lower than analysts’ expectations.

The company’s Z10 phone has been selling for the past three months, however, the Q10 with the physical keyboard has only been available in the United States for the past month.

Marvin Ryder of the Degroote School of Business gives us his perspective.
