Hair stylists checking for cancer
How closely does your stylist or barber check you out?
One in three surveyed say they examine their customers necks and scalps for skin lesions.
Over half say they’ve encouraged a customer to see a doctor for an abnormal mole.
Even though most of the hair professionals surveyed hadn’t taken a course on skin cancer, half were interested in taking part in an education program.
Melanoma of the scalp and neck account for about 10% of all melanoma deaths.
