Former NHLer Chris Simon dead by suicide at 52
An Indigenous NHL legend has died. The family of 52-year-old Chris Simon says the hockey enforcer died by suicide Monday night – and are pointing the finger at CTE.
It’s a degenerative brain disease that comes from chronic head trauma, and is only just starting to be taken seriously in the world of sports.
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman shared his condolences for Chris Simon’s family today… but on the issue of CTE, Bettman still refuses to draw a link between the disease and hockey.
