Food label information

Some consumers could be missing key allergy information on food labels.

Researchers at McGill University surveyed nearly 2,500 shoppers about how likely they were to shop based on food allergy warning labels.

The wording varied, beginning with a generality simply saying the product was manufactured in a facility that also labeled nut and wheat products.

Meanwhile, other labels warned the food was “unsuitable” for people with food allergies.
