
Defibrillators and chest compressions
There’s new evidence that nearly 75% of cardiac arrests are due to conditions that don’t respond to shocks from a defibrillator.
The study goes on to suggest that, in these cases, repetitive chest compressions could help these patients.
Researchers found performing chest compressions can double heart attack survival rates from 2.5% to 5%.
The latest CPR guidelines place a strong emphasis on more chest compression with fewer breaks.
