Cholesterol drug fights Alzheimer’s
A drug used to treat high cholesterol could help prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
Researchers at Montreal’s McGill University studied how the statin drug Zocor reduces symptoms of Alzheimer’s in mice.
They found mice showed improvements in learning and memory but only when they were equivalent to a middle-aged person.
Much older mice didn’t have the same reaction, leading scientists to believe the benefit only exists for people who start taking Zocor early.
