The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum has a new exhibit that tells the stories from the Royal Canadian Airforce and the Second World War.

Emily Vukovic got to see two of the digital experience of ‘Making Freedom Fly’ when she was at the museum.

The Immersive Dome lets viewers experience digitized and colourized videos from the archives of Canadians in their roles at home and overseas. And the Interactive Avatars in the gallery space brings people from Canadian aviation history to life and allows you to have conversations with them.

‘Making Freedom Fly’ also has an HD Interactive Cinema that Canadian military films from the museums collection, and an Augmented Reality that allowed you to tour the Avro Lancaster.

Emily also went into the vault to get a firsthand look at the archives- including navigation equipment, clothing and more from the Second World War that has been donated by veterans and their families.

Another thing going on at CWHM is Air Force 100 taking place July 6th & 7th. On these days you can see the largest gathering in 2024 of RCAF type aircraft and meet current members of the force. You can still purchase tickets for the event by clicking here.

As the Royal Canadian Airforce celebrates 100 years, the Lancaster will be flying around Canada and then heading to the worlds biggest airshow in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
