Billions of single use, non-recyclable period products are thrown away each year, but a new company wants to change that. The co-founder and CEO of Only, Kathryn Plouffe joined us with details on their reusable and biodegradable period products.

Plouffe is disrupting the period product industry, with the goal of making it better for people and better for the planet.

Plouffe says she came up with the idea for ‘Only’ because she felt like there should be a better way for women to experience the commercialization of their periods.

“What people typically don’t know is that the period products that they have been using their whole lives are made out of something called rayon, wrapped in plastic,” said Plouffe.

She launched ‘Only’, a Canadian online eco-retailer in November 2021. It only offers affordable, zero-plastic, organic cotton, sustainable period products.

Plouffe says ‘Only’ partnered with a company called ‘Period Packs’ in Ottawa to donate to period poverty in Canada.

She says one in three people experience period poverty in Canada. ‘Period Packs’ teams with ‘Only’ to donate period products and provide access to advocacy and education for women.

‘Only” is subscription based only and you can find out more information on their website.
