BCE to buy Astral Media

Canada’s largest telecommunications company to get even bigger.
BCE is buying Astral Media for $3.38 billion.
The news saw Astral shares jump nearly $14 more than yesterday’s closing price of $36.25.
Astral owns 24 pay and specialty TV channels and over 80 radio stations across Canada, including 24 in Quebec.
The company has 2,800 employees across the country, about half of whom are in Quebec.
The deal still requires approval from both shareholders and the CRTC.
