
A passion for pears

For some, pear is just a delicious fruit, but did you know more and more people are starting to add pears into their daily cooking.
The pear lady, Wendy Barrett joined us with some great pear recipes.
Cheese and Pear Quesadillas
Ingredients:
· 4 whole wheat flour 8″ tortillas
· ½ cup shredded Jack cheese
· ½ cup sliced brie cheese
· 3 tbsp sliced fresh basil leaves
· 2 tbsp chopped sweet onion
· USA pear, cored and thinly sliced
· 2 tsp olive oil
Directions:
1. On half of each tortilla, sprinkle one-fourth of cheeses, basil, and onion and top with pear slices.
2. Fold each in half; brush both sides with olive oil and heat in non-stick skillet 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until cheese melts and tortilla browns.
3. Cut each into four pieces.
Makes 16 appetizers /snacks
