HAPPENING NOW:
5 Canadian-made Christmas gifts to buy this holiday season
Shopping local is quite important this holiday season amidst supply chain issues and product shortages.
Beauty expert Shira Ben joined Annette Hamm on Morning Live to share five Canadian-made gifts to give this year.
Roots ONE Collection
There is nothing more Canadian and iconic than a tracksuit from Roots.
The clothing brand recently launched their new Roots One Collection, which includes tracksuits for everyone no matter their age, gender, size or body type.
“It’s so comfortable and sustainable as well,” Ben said. “They’re made up of 80 per cent organic cotton and 20 per cent reusable fibres.”
NeoStrata Skin Care
Looking to give the gift of healthy skin this holiday season?
Ben recommended two new collections from a Quebec-based skin care brand called NeoStrata.
The NeoStrata triple firming neck cream kit helps to reduce signs of aging on the neck and makes the skin look more firm.
Another option is the NeoStrata winter glow kit, which contains a sample of their Bionic Oxygen Recovery at-home radiance facial to revitalize stressed skin. The kit also includes a full-size version of their best-selling Moisture Infusion Hydrating cream.
Seabae Makeup Wipes
These makeup remover wipes are the perfect gift for the beauty enthusiast on your list.
This Canadian company is on a mission to save the ocean.
“Made from ethically-sourced hemp cotton means they are zero waste, reusable after more than 1000 washes and biodegradable,” Ben said.
Fruits and Passion Gift Set
From kitchen to bath sets, Fruits and Passion has a number of holiday collections this year.
Ben said her favourite is the Deluxe Gift Set Coriander and Olive Tree Coriander and Olive Tree. This set features all of the best products from the Cucina collection, including a hand soap with olive oil and refill, hand cream and candle.
Toques from the Heart
Three McMaster University students founded this company in 2019 with the desire to make a positive difference.
When you buy one of their toques, the brand will donate another toque to a Canadian in need.
Their goal this year is to give 35,000 toques, a number that matches the amount of Canadians experiencing homelessness each day.
